Breast Enlargement with Breast Implants

Breast augmentation with silicone breast implants, also known as breast augmentation surgery, is currently the most popular cosmetic surgical procedure.

Breast enlargement with implants is intended for those who want a larger volume as well as a more harmonious breast shape. The effect of this procedure is spectacular, as it not only improves physical appearance but, most importantly, boosts self-esteem.

An experienced plastic surgeon will safeguard the patient’s health by performing precise measurements during the consultation, while also applying special techniques to achieve a result that is as natural and close to the patient’s desires as possible.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF SILICONE BREAST IMPLANT AUGMENTATION?

  • larger breast volume with the help of breast implants
  • enhanced breast projection giving a fresher, younger appearance
  • fuller breasts, sometimes even lifted (if ptosis level is moderate)
  • symmetrical breasts when naturally they have different volumes (one larger and one smaller – breast asymmetry)
  • provides body silhouette balance
  • boosts self-confidence

ARE YOU A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH IMPLANTS? YES IF:

  • you have realistic expectations and understand that this procedure can correct certain asymmetries, but the foundation remains your own body anatomy
  • you want the procedure for yourself and your own balance, not for others
  • you are healthy and the procedure does not put you at risk
  • your breasts differ in size and shape
  • you are over 18 years old
  • you have very small breasts and it is frustrating for you

TYPES OF IMPLANTS (SILICONE)

ANATOMICAL: tear-drop shaped, closely mimicking the natural shape of the breast.

Things to consider when choosing:

  • width (9cm -17 cm) and height (8 cm-16 cm)
  • projection (3.3 cm – 7.1 cm) – distance from chest outward
  • volume (100 cc -775 cc)

There are various profiles and projections adapted to each anatomical conformation, and during the consultation you will be able to see and choose the option that best suits you to achieve the exact result you desire.

The length and width of the anatomical implant are determined according to your body structure. For example, even the width of the back proportionally influences the implant width.

ROUND: create a more pronounced push-up effect, but the result can still look natural.

Round silicone implants are recommended especially for active women who do intense sports, but not exclusively.

RISKS AND COMPLICATIONS OF BREAST AUGMENTATION SURGERY

As with any surgical procedure, breast enlargement with silicone implants carries potential risks that should be known beforehand:

  • bleeding (hematomas)
  • infection
  • difficulty in wound healing
  • suture opening
  • keloid and hypertrophic scars
  • temporary or permanent nipple/breast numbness
  • capsular contracture, which is the formation of a firm, hard scar tissue around the implant (the body’s reaction to a silicone breast implant, perceived as a foreign object)
  • implant rupture
  • wrinkling or folding of the skin over the implant (rippling effect)
  • implant rotation
  • anesthesia-related risks
  • edema (fluid accumulation)
  • blood clots
  • deep vein thrombosis, cardiac and pulmonary complications
  • persistent pain
  • need for reoperation

BEFORE BREAST AUGMENTATION SURGERY WITH IMPLANTS:

  • avoid medications affecting blood clotting: anticoagulants, aspirin, etc.
  • stop smoking two weeks before surgery: it negatively affects recovery
  • preoperative blood tests, a breast ultrasound with BIRADS score, and an EKG must be done
  • inform the surgeon about diabetes, autoimmune diseases, HIV, hepatitis, medications, etc.
  • do not eat or drink 12 hours before surgery

AFTER BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH IMPLANTS – RECOVERY PERIOD:

The procedure lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. You will be monitored postoperatively by qualified personnel in an internationally standard environment and stay for one night.

The next day, post-discharge, certain rules must be followed responsibly to ensure optimal recovery and complete success:

  • Wear a special bra day and night for 2 months
  • Avoid sudden arm movements for 2 months; you may raise them horizontally, not above your head
  • Do not lift weights over 3 kg for 2 months
  • You can sleep on your stomach 3 months after surgery
  • No sports, tanning beds, or swimming in the first 2 months. Gradual leg exercises can start after 1 month
  • You can resume driving after approximately 10–12 days
  • Avoid hot baths/showers and catching colds
  • Avoid aggressive massage
  • Avoid sudden weight gain, as breasts may sag
  • Avoid major weight fluctuations (gain/loss)
